Through the primary election on August 2 on the MLC Blog we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 77^th House District is located in mid-Michigan and includes portions of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties.

Commentary

The district, which includes a portion of Lansing, has a 61.5% Democratic base, making that primary race the key to who will represent this seat next January. This seat is open and includes three strong candidates in the primary race.

Democratic Candidates:

- Logan Byrne – Attorney
- Emily Dievendorf – Political consultant, small business owner, executive director of Equality Michigan, former legislative staffer.
- Jon Horford – Small business owner, 2021 graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program.

Republican Candidate:

- John Magoola
