Public Service Commissioner Departs

Apr 28, 2023

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has one less commissioner following the departure of Tremaine Phillips. He was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in September 2019. “This decision has been made after much thought and consideration of my family’s personal and professional priorities, taking into account an exceptional opportunity recently presented to my wife, which our family believes is too significant to pass up,” he told MPSC Staff in an email announcing his decision to leave. Governor Whitmer will name a replacement to finish his term, which ends July 2, 2025.

The mission of the MPSC is to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible energy and telecommunications services to Michigan residents.
