House Member Resigns

As of July 1, the Michigan House of Representatives will have one fewer member. Representative Jim Lilly (R-Park Twp.) announced he is resigning six months prior to the end of his third term in office for a job in the private sector. The partisan makeup of the chamber now stands at 56 Republican members and 53 Democratic members. To pass bills, the House will need 55 affirmative votes.

Representative Lilly represented the 89th House District, which includes Grand Haven, Olive, Park, Port Sheldon, Robinson, Blendon, Crockery, and Spring Lake Townships, and Ferrysburg and Grand Haven. Prior to his resignation, he served as chair of the House Rules and Competitiveness Committee.
