Michigan would utilize $280 million of additional revenue to address unfinished learning under a proposal by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Named the “MI Kids Back on Track,” the tutoring plan would utilize tutoring or other forms of personalized instruction before, after, or during school to help students catch up and get on track after a tough few years due to the pandemic. Schools have already received federal resources from the American Rescue Plan specifically to address unfinished learning. This plan would build on the federal funding with state resources to bolster tutoring programs.
