Governor Announces Leadership Changes

This week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced several leadership changes throughout state government. Julie Dale, recently named director of the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB), will transition to director of the Unemployment Insurance Agency. She is replacing Liza Estlund Olson, who will return to her previous role as director at the Office of the State Employer.

Taking over Ms. Dale’s role at DTMB, will be Michelle Lange, serving as acting director. She’s held several key leadership positions within the department in recent years, including chief deputy director, director of executive direction and operations, chief of staff to the director, and as the department legislative liaison. The State of Michigan will conduct a nationwide search to select a permanent DTMB director.

Lastly, Laura Clark has been appointed the state’s chief information officer. Currently, she holds the position of chief security officer and will retain those duties. Ms. Clark has served in various leadership positions within government for more than 20 years.
