Local communities and organizations can apply for funding from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, to be used to improve recycling programs. The grants are part of Governor Rick Snyder’s initiative to double the state’s recycling rate as part of his Recycling Imitative first announced in April 2014.
Up to $500,000 is available to Michigan cities, villages, townships, charter townships, counties, tribal government, municipal solid waste authorities, resource recovery authorities, non-profit organizations, public school districts, local health departments, and regional planning agencies. Applicants may partner with for-profit organizations for funding or program support as needed. Applications will be accepted until March 17, 2017.
