Department Names Acting Senior Deputy Director

Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced that Matt Lori will serve as acting senior deputy director of the Policy, Planning, and Legislative Services Administration for DHHS effective October 31.  In this role, Mr. Lori will oversee Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Health Policy and Innovation, Legislative and Constituent Services, and the Office of Planning, which includes the Pathways to Potential program and Certificate of Need.  “During his tenure serving in the Legislature, MLC had the opportunity to work with Matt on several issues,” stated Brendan Ringlever of MLC.  “He was a great partner and a strong advocate for Michigan residents and has continued to be at DHHS.  Congratulations, Matt on your new role!”

Prior to his new position, Mr. Lori served as the DHHS health care administrator, working to improve and innovate Michigan’s health care delivery system.  Before his work with DHHS, Mr. Lori served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives.  Before his time in the legislature, he worked for twenty-nine years in law enforcement, having served twenty years as the sheriff for St. Joseph County.

Matt Lori has a degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University.
