This week, Attorney General Bill Schuette, named Matthew Schneider as Chief Deputy Attorney General. Mr. Schneider will take over the role from the current Chief Deputy, Carol Isaacs, who is retiring at the end of December.
Mr. Schneider has served as Chief Legal Counsel for Attorney General Schuette since 2013. He is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District and was appointed by President George W. Bush as a Senior Advisor and Assistant General Counsel in the White House Budget Office. Additionally, Mr. Schneider previously served as the Michigan Supreme Court’s Chief of Staff and General Counsel. He is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College and the University of Michigan Law School. He will assume the role on January 1, 2017.
