Governor Moves Michigan Women’s Commission

Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-171, moving the Michigan Women’s Commission from the Department of Civil Rights to the Department of Labor and Economic Growth. Under the E.O., the executive director of the Commission will serve as the chief executive officer and provide executive direction and supervision of the Commission’s activities. Additionally, the governor will designate a chairperson and a vice-chairperson of the Commission from among its members.

The Michigan Women’s Commission was created by statute in 1968. It is comprised of 15 members, appointed by the governor, serving three-year terms.
