Michigan had the highest rate in the nation of young voter turnout in the 2022 general election. Voters aged 18-29 turned out at a rate of 37% in the state, higher than any other state analyzed by the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) at Tufts University. Additionally, Michigan was one of only four states where youth turnout was higher in 2022 than in 2018.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has worked on voter access and education for students and leaders at colleges and universities across the state, high schools, large employers, and other organizations interacting with young people.
