The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in June declined by one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.5%. During the month, total employment increased by 8,000, while the number of unemployed decreased by 4,000. The rate was five-tenths of a percentage point above the national rate of 4.0%. Additionally, Michigan’s June 2018 rate was one-tenth of a percentage point above June 2017’s rate.
In the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.4%, which is the same as the prior month. Total employment grew by 2,000, while the number of unemployed decreased by 1,000.
