Treasurer Presents to House Committee

This week, Treasurer Rachael Eubanks and Deputy Treasurer Jeff Guilfoyle presented to the House Tax Policy Committee. They provided the committee with a broad overview of the department and the state’s tax structure. Highlights from the presentation include:

    • They process 8 million tax returns per year
    • Treasury oversees a $118 billion portfolio of investments
    • The department transitioned 98% of their workforce to telework during 2020
    • The tax administration division receives 198,000 phone calls per year
    • Each year, Michigan residents pay $83.3 billion in Federal taxes, $30.5 billion in State taxes, and $13.7 billion in Local taxes
