Governor Rick Snyder announced dates for a special election to fill the vacant 68th House District. The special primary election will be held on August 7, while the special general election will be held on November 6. Both dates coincide with regularly scheduled elections. The special elections will only be to fill the remainder of the current term, running through December 31, 2018. The regularly scheduled primary and general elections will determine the new Representative for the district, for the term beginning January 1, 2019.
The 68th House District is in Ingham County and includes Lansing Township and a portion of the City of Lansing. The seat was left vacant when former Representative Andy Schor (D-Lansing) resigned from office after being elected Mayor of Lansing.
