In addition to the Presidential Primary Elections being held statewide on Tuesday, March 8, three State House Districts will vote in a special general election to elect state representatives, filling vacancies created throughout the past year. One vacancy was due to the resignation of former Representative Brandon Dillon upon being elected Chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party, another vacancy was created when former Representative Cindy Gamrat was expelled, and the third vacancy was created by the resignation of former Representative Todd Courser. The districts and their candidates are outlined below.
75th District, Kent County

• David LaGrand, Democratic
80th District, Allegan County
• Mary Whiteford, Republican
• David Gernant, Democratic
• Arnie Davidsons, Libertarian
82nd District, Lapeer County
• Gary Howell, Republican
• Margaret Guerrero DeLuca, Democratic
• Tracy Spilker, Libertarian
