Attorney General Dana Nessel responded to a request by Senator Jim Runestad (R-White Lake), and signed by additional state senators, to open an investigation into Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s handling of COVID-19 patients in Michigan nursing homes. On February 23, the senators signed a letter raising concerns regarding the governor’s COVID-19 processes and policies for nursing homes; the accuracy of reporting data; compliance with CDC guidelines; and compliance with the state’s Freedom of Information Act.
In her response, Attorney General Nessel addressed each of the four areas of concern outlined in the letter and detailed why each concern, as presented, did not warrant the opening of an investigation by her office. To read the full response, please click here.
