Senator Marshall Bullock (D-Detroit) will serve as director of government affairs for the City of Detroit following the end of his term in office. Due to redistricting, Senator Bullock was drawn into the same district as another Democratic senator, setting up a primary race, where he was unsuccessful. During his time in the legislature, he served as chair of the Michigan Black Legislative Caucus, sat on the Insurance and Banking Committee, and was minority vice chair of the Families, Seniors, and Veterans Committee. Prior to his election, he was a key member of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s administration, serving as district manager. He earned a degree in human services from the University of Phoenix. Senator Bullock begins his new role on January 3, 2023.
