Kathryn Summers has been selected as the next director of the nonpartisan Senate Fiscal Agency (SFA). She brings nearly 25 years of experience working for the Senate and House fiscal agencies, and has served as associate director of the SFA since 2006. Ms. Summers received her master’s degree from Michigan State University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan – Flint. She replaces Chris Harkins, who is now the state budget director.
Ms. Summers was appointed to the role by the Senate Fiscal Agency Governing Board, which is comprised of five senators and chaired by Senate Appropriations Chairman Jim Stamas (R-Midland). The additional members of the board are Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake), Senate Democratic Leader Jim Ananich (D-Flint), Senate Appropriations Committee Majority Vice Chair Jon Bumstead (R-Newaygo), and Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chair Curtis Hertel (D-East Lansing).
