This week, the Senate Appropriations Committee reported a bill providing a $144 million appropriation to aid the City of Flint. The funds would be spread throughout seven departments and help the city deal with the ongoing water crisis. The bill provides funds for items such as nutrition programs, food banks, retaining the Detroit water connection, summer youth program, early on services, behavioral therapy, and home visits. Additionally, it provides $25 million for the replacement of lead service lines for high-hazard homes. The legislation also establishes a $45.5 million reserve fund for future needs. The supplemental appropriation has been referred to the Senate floor for further consideration.
