Legislation investing $2.5 billion to preserve and protect Michigan’s water quality, infrastructure, and the environment, received a hearing this week in the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB 565, introduced by Senator Jon Bumstead (R-Newaygo), would utilize federal funding to repair dams in critical condition, assist communities with upgrading and replacing water infrastructure, conduct surface water monitoring, and implement recommendations included in the Groundwater Use Advisory Council Report.
