Due to two members leaving the Senate this month, a few changes to committee chairmanships and assignments were announced. Senator Roger Victory (R-Georgetown Twp.) will serve as chair of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee and will serve as assistant majority whip. Senator Jon Bumstead (R-Newaygo) will be leaving the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness to take a new position as vice chairman of the Senate Advice and Consent Committee. Additionally, Senator Bumstead will serve as chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. Lastly, two members were added to the Senate Energy Committee: Senator Wayne Schmidt (R-Traverse City) and Senator Marshall Bullock (D-Detroit).
