Tuesday’s primary election in Michigan set a new record for the number of ballots cast. This year, more than 2.5 million voters cast ballots, breaking the previous record set in the August 2018 primary when 2.2 million people voted. Of those that voted this year, 1.6 million ballots were absentee.
Highlights of the August 4 primary include;
Turnout is expected to increase dramatically in November. Currently, there are 2.4 million residents who are either on the permanent absent voter list or have requested an absentee ballot.
