Through the primary election on August 7, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 8^th House District is located in Wayne County and includes a portion of the City of Detroit. The district has a 97% Democratic base.

Commentary

Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo is running for her third, and final, term in this seat. If she wins the Democratic primary race, she will be on her way to serving her last term representing the 8^th House District.

Valerie Parker – Worked for 25 years in the faith based community, former restaurant owner
