Through the primary election on August 2 on the MLC Blog we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.
The 84th House District in west Michigan is in Kent County. It includes Grandville, Walker, and portions of Grand Rapids.
This district is a near 50/50 district, with the Republicans having a slight edge with a 50.5% base to the Democratic base of 49.5%. Representative Carol Glanville won the special election to fill this seat in May 2022 and this fall will run for a full two-year term, facing off against the winner of the Republican primary race. Republican candidate Robert Regan won the primary race for the special election in this seat but lost to Representative Glanville in the special general election earlier this year.
