District Overview

The 6^th House District is located in Wayne County, including Ecorse, River Rogue, and a portion of the City of Detroit. The district has a 92% Democratic base.

Commentary

Representative Stephanie Chang (D) opted to run for the Senate instead of a third-term in this seat, leaving it open. There are several current and former legislative staff members running in the seat, in addition to a former District Court Judge and Magistrate, and a advisor to the Detroit Mayor. Given the strong base, the winner of the Democratic primary race is all but assured to win in the general election.

• Aghogho Edevbie – Attorney, former Assistant Corporation Counsel for Wayne County, worked on President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, former member of the Detroit Partnership
• Paula Georgette Humphries – Former Judge and Magistrate in the 36^th District Court, former Assistant Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Army Reserves, U.S. Army Veteran, former legal counsel to Democratic members of the Michigan Senate, former Assistant Attorney General
• Samantha Magdaleno – Former Director of Community Organizing with the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, activist
• David Sanchez – Salesman, former legislative staffer, worked for AT&T
• Ricardo White – Legislative staffer, former finance assistant on the Benny Napoleon for Mayor campaign, board member of the Mary Turner Center for Advocacy, Treasurer of the 13^th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization and Treasurer of the Michigan Democratic Party Youth Caucus
• Charlesetta Wilson – Works for UNITE HERE, board member at the Metro AFL-CIO
