District Overview

The 4^th Michigan House District is located in Wayne County and includes Hamtramck and a portion of the City of Detroit.

Commentary

Representative Rose Mary Robinson (D) is term limited from running for re-election, leaving this seat open. This seat has a strong 92% Democratic base, making the primary race key. The Democratic race in this district has a large number of candidates, each candidate will have to work that much harder to garner name recognition on the ballot in August. The son of current Representative Robinson, Isaac Robinson, is one of the several candidates in the race.

• Myya Jones – Community organizer, worked for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence

• Diane McMillan – Social worker, professor at Wayne State University, former professor at Davenport University, Spring Arbor University, and the University of Detroit Mercy
• Jeffrey Nolish –Southwest Detroit Community Benefits Coalition policy advisor, serves in the Michigan Air National Guard, held several positions for the City of Detroit
• Michele Oberholtzer – Director of the Tax Foreclosure Prevention Project for the United Community Housing Coalition
• Rico Razo – Youth Development Professional, previously worked for the Detroit Tigers in the marketing department, former district manager for Detroit City Council District 6
• Syed Rob – Member of the Hamtramck Zoning Board, appointed by Governor Rick Snyder as a member of the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy, small business owner
• Isaac Robinson – Former legislative aide for the Detroit City Council, worked for former Congressman John Conyers
