Primary Election Overview: 24th Senate District

Jun 21, 2018

Through the primary election on August 7, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 24th Senate District includes the counties of Clinton, Eaton, Shiawassee, and a portion of Ingham County. The district has a 56% Republican base.

Commentary

Senator Rick Jones (R) is serving his second and final term in office leaving this seat open. On the Republican side there are two current State Representatives vying for the spot. In the general election they’ll go against a well-known public relations specialist who is expected to give the Republican candidate a good run. Right now, the focus will be on who will win the primary race, but in the fall this district will be one to watch.
