General Election Overview: 13th Senate District

Through the general election on November 6, on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which due to the voter base the seat could be won by either the Democratic or Republican candidate. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 13^th Senate District is located in Oakland County.

Commentary

Senator Marty Knollenberg (R) is running for a second term in this seat. While incumbency status always helps on the ballot, Mallory McMorrow is seen as tough competition and the Senator will need to put in work in order to keep his seat. The district has a 52% Republican base, but in the 2016 Presidential election, the district voted 50% to 44% in favor of Hillary Clinton.
