Primary Election Overview: 11th House District

Through the primary election on August 7, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 11^th House District is located in Wayne County. The district includes Garden, Inkster, and portions of Dearborn Heights, Livonia, and Westland. The district has a 67% Democratic base.

Commentary

Representative Jewell Jones (D) is running for his second term in office, but will face the hurdle of running against the Garden City Mayor who filed against him and making this a competitive primary to watch. The district is deeply Democratic, so the Primary winner will walk away with a victory in November.

Jewell Jones – State Representative, former Inkster City Council member, member of the U.S. Army Reserved Officers’ Training Corps.
Randy Walker – Garden City Mayor, U.S. Air Force Veteran, retired from Ford Motor Company, former reserve police officer for the Garden City Police Department
