Through the primary election on August 2 on the MLC Blog we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 103^rd House District is located in a northern section of the Lower Peninsula, including Crawford, Missaukee, Ostego, and Roscommon Counties and portions of Antrim, Kalkaska, and Oscoda Counties.

Commentary

This district is a strong Republican district, with the party having a 64% base. Representative Borton is running for a second term in office. He’s facing three candidates, including Diane Randall who’s served as the Roscommon Township Supervisor since 1997. The winner of this primaryis all but assured to serve in the new session.

- Representative Ken Borton – State representative, small business owner, former Otsego County Commissioner.
- Mark McFarlin
- Kim Morley – Small business owner, former CEO of a non-profit health organization, former member of the Roscommon Area Public Schools Board of Education.
- Diane Randall – Roscommon Township Supervisor.
