Primary Election Overview: 100th House District

Through the primary election on August 2, on every Tuesday and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 100^th House District includes Lake County, Newaygo County, and Oceana County. The seat has a 57% Republican base and is seen as a safe seat for the GOP.

Commentary

Representative Jon Bumstead (R-Newaygo) is serving his third and final term in office. Republican candidate Scott VanSingel has received the endorsement of Representative Bumstead, along with several other endorsements and continues to gain momentum. However, candidate John Wilterink has also received several key endorsements himself. The winner of the Republican primary will go on to serve as the next State Representative.
