Petition Recalling the Governor Approved

This week the Board of State Canvassers approved a petition seeking to recall Governor Rick Snyder. The reason for recall is due to his creation of the State School/Redesign Office. The office was created with the mission to turn the lowest ranking schools in the state, into the highest-performing schools. The office has created some controversy over state vs. local control issues and how much authority the state should have over a local school. A number of other petitions seeking the Governor’s recall for the Flint water crisis were not approved due to errors in the petition. In order for the approved petition to be placed before Michigan voters on the ballot, the signatures of 789,133 Michigan voters will need to be collected within a sixty day window.
