New MDEQ Director Named

Jul 15, 2016

This week, Governor Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Heidi Grether as director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.  Currently, she serves as the Deputy Director at the Michigan Agency for Energy.  Prior to that, she worked for BP American.  She also served as staff in both chambers of the Michigan Legislature, including as legislative director for former Speaker Paul Hillegonds.  Ms. Grether holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration and a Master of Science in Natural Resource Economics and Policy, both from Michigan State University.

Ms. Grether is succeeding interim director Keith Creagh, who will return to his post as director of the Department of Natural Resources.  Her appointment is effective August 1, 2016 and is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
