New Elections Director Named

Jun 30, 2017

This week, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced Sally Williams as the next director of the Michigan Bureau of Elections.  She currently serves as the bureau’s Election Liaison Division director, assisting county and local clerks in their election administration duties.  Prior to that, Ms. Williams served in the executive offices of Secretaries Candice Miller and Terri Lynn Land.  Overall, she has been with the department for thirty-years.  She replaces the current director who is retiring this week after serving in the role for thirty-six years.

The Bureau of Elections, which reports to the secretary of state, oversees Michigan’s elections, administers Michigan’s Campaign Finance Act, the Lobby Registration Act, and the Office of the Great Seal, which commissions notaries public, among other duties.
