MLC Recognizes Award Winner

This week, Evan Ward, son of MLC President Tim Ward, received the 2017 Frank M. Fitzgerald Award at the State Capitol. He was also recognized on the Senate floor by Senate Majority Floor Leader Mike Kowall (R-White Lake) during session on Tuesday. Evan is a student at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and politics. He has served as a student budget analyst and researcher at the State Budget Office of Michigan, in addition to interning with the House Republican Policy Office. “Evan is an incredibly bright, hard-working young man and this award is a well-deserved honor. Former Representative Frank Fitzgerald would have loved Evan’s enthusiasm and deep interest in public policy.” On behalf of the entire MLC team, we want to wish him congratulations,” stated Brendan Ringlever of MLC.

Recipients of the Frank Fitzgerald Public Service Award are honored for their excellence as scholars, communicators, and volunteers. The award is named for the late Frank Fitzgerald, a state lawmaker in the 1980s and 1990s. Fitzgerald served for 12 years in the Michigan House and was speaker pro tem for two terms.
