Midwest Governors Announce Infrastructure Partnership

Five states are teaming up to coordinate electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the region. Along with the governors of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the Regional Electric Vehicle for the Midwest Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The goal is to collectively accelerate vehicle electrification within the Midwest region. The MOU will provide the foundation for cooperation on fleet electrification along key commercial corridors to safeguard economic security, grow jobs, future proof interstate commerce, reduce emissions, improve public health, and advance innovation.

Experts believe that improving access to charging infrastructure will reduce range anxiety and support EV adoption. Through the MOU, the states will work together to remove barriers to electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles and enable EV charging across states by coordinating to optimize charging infrastructure, cooperate on best practices, and support standardization.
