For the month of November, Michigan’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9%, unchanged from the prior month. Last month’s rate was eight-tenths of a percentage point below last year’s rate. In the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn market, November’s unemployment rate was 4.0%, which also remained unchanged from the prior month, and was four-tenths of a percentage point below last year’s rate.

This marks the last time a statewide unemployment rate will be released during Governor Rick Snyder’s tenure. When he took office on January 1, 2011, Michigan’s unemployment rate was 11.3%. Since then, nearly 560,000 private-sector payroll jobs have been created. The major job gains occurred in the following areas:
