Chief Justice Bridget McCormack and Elizabeth Welch won the competitive race for two seats on the Michigan Supreme Court. Additionally, with their election those nominated by the Democratic Party will hold a majority on the Court.
Chief Justice Bridget McCormack was first elected to the Supreme Court in 2012 and began serving in January 2013. In 2019, she was elected Chief Justice by her fellow Justices. Prior to her election, she was a law professor and dean at the University of Michigan Law School.
Elizabeth Welch brings 25 years of legal experience, specializing in employment law.
