Michigan Democratic Party Holds Convention

Last Sunday, the Michigan Democratic Party held their endorsement convention for statewide offices up for election this year. While the candidates selected won’t officially be their party’s nominee until the party’s convention in August, this shows a strong vote of confidence in those chosen.

Attorney General – Dana Nessel is the managing partner of Nessel & Kessel Law and previously served as an Assistant Prosecutor in Wayne County.
Secretary of State – Jocelyn Benson is the CEO and Executive Director of the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality. She previously worked as Dean of Wayne State University Law School.
Michigan Supreme Court – Megan Cavanagh is an appellate attorney and shareholder at Garan Lucow Miller P.C.
Michigan Supreme Court – Sam Bagenstos is a civil rights attorney and a professor of law at the University of Michigan. He previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights under President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder.
