Michigan Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (D) this week announced her appointment as Vice Chair of the Congressional Women’s Caucus for the 115th Congress. “Congratulations to Congresswoman Lawrence on her appointment! She has been a strong voice for her district, and Michigan residents, since being elected and will use her new role to bring a strong voice for women issues,” stated Sean Mann of MLC.
Congresswoman Lawrence also serves as the Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Subcommittee on the Interior. Additionally, she serves on the House Committee on Small Business, the Subcommittee on National Security; Agriculture, Energy, and Trade; and Contracting and Workforce.
Congresswoman Lawrence was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2014. Prior to that, she served as the City of Southfield Mayor for fourteen years. In Congress, she represents Michigan’s 14th Congressional District, which includes portions of the City of Detroit, the City of Southfield, and sixteen other cities located in Oakland and Wayne Counties.
