MI Chief Deputy Attorney General Gets Federal Appointment

This week, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the appointment of Michigan Chief Deputy Attorney General, Matthew Schneider, as interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Following this appointment, President Donald Trump has 120-days to formally nominate Mr. Schneider or nominate another person as the attorney for this district.

Prior to serving as Chief Deputy, Mr. Schneider served as chief legal counsel for the Attorney General’s office. Prior to his time working for Attorney General Bill Schuette, he served as chief of staff and general counsel for the Michigan Supreme Court. He’s also served as a federal prosecutor in Detroit.

Filling Mr. Schneider’s former role at the Attorney General’s office will be Chief Legal Counsel Laura Moody, replacing her will be Deputy Solicitor General Eric Restuccia.
