After more than a year, beginning May 15 at 9 a.m., fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors under an updated epidemic order issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). However, individual businesses can continue to have discretion on requirements they place on people visiting their businesses. Furthermore, no one will be required to wear a mask outdoors regardless of their vaccination status. The updated epidemic order puts Michigan in line with the new CDC guidelines requiring masks.
On July 1, the broad indoor mask mandate will expire meaning regardless of vaccination status, DHHS will no longer require masks to be worn indoors.
