Macomb County Special State Senate Primary Held

The 8^th Senate District is one step closer to having representation in Lansing following the special primary election this week. The seat has been open since former Senator Pete Lucido resigned following his election as Macomb County Prosecutor. The district is considered safe for Republicans; thus, Representative Wozniak is likely to win the seat later this year.

The primary race winners are:

- Democratic candidate – Martin Genter
  - Works for the United Nations Foundation, former congressional staffer.
- Republican candidate – Representative Doug Wozniak
  - State representative, attorney.
  - Committees – Families, Children, and Seniors, Communications and Technology, Oversight, and Judiciary Committees.

The special general election will be held this November, for the remainder of the term ending on January 1, 2023.
