Longtime House Clerk Retires

Gary Randall, who’s served as either the assistant clerk of the Michigan House of Representatives, or clerk, since 1997 has retired from his role. Additionally, Gary chaired the Michigan State Capitol Commission, which formed in 2014 to preserve and maintain the state Capitol. Throughout his career, he’s served as a member of the Educational Broadcast Association, Michigan Farm Bureau, the Lions Club, Jaycees, the Elks, and on the Library of Michigan Board of Trustees.

Prior to his role as clerk, Gary served as a state representative for 18 years, after being elected in 1978. He began his career as a program director, then director of public affairs, on local news and television stations before moving onto public service.
