Legislature Moves Supplemental Spending

After back and forth between the House and the Senate, the chambers approved of legislation providing $312 million in supplemental funding for the current fiscal year. The bill provides funding for several of the programs that had their appropriations vetoed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2019.

Funding within the legislation includes:

    • $25 million for state efforts to combat the coronavirus
    • $25 million for potential settlements for ongoing legal cases
    • $15 million for the Going PRO talent fund
    • $5 million to help communities impacted by high water levels and shoreline erosion
    • $7 million for an increase to the Medicaid hospital outpatient rate

The bill will be sent to Governor Whitmer for her consideration.
