Legislative Black Caucus Announces Leadership

Following a unanimous vote of its members, the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus (MLBC) announced their officers for the 102nd Legislature. The Executive Board consists of:

    • Chairperson – Senator Erika Geiss (D-Taylor)
    • Executive Vice Chairperson – Representative Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw)
    • First Vice Chairperson – Senator Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing)
    • Second Vice Chairperson – Representative Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac)
    • Secretary – Representative Felicia Brabec (D-Pittsfield Twp.)
    • Treasurer – Representative Stephanie Young (D-Detroit)
    • Chaplain – Representative Cynthia Neeley (D-Flint)
    • Historian – Representative Helena Scott (D-Detroit)
    • Sergeant-At-Arms/Parliamentarian – Representative Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit).

The MLBC was founded in 1976 during a meeting at the Detroit home of former Representative Morris Hood, Jr.  The Caucus serves as a partnership between residents and legislators, with a commitment to ensuring all citizens have equal opportunities.
