On Wednesday, Representative Sheldon Neeley (D-Flint) was elected to lead the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus for the 2017-2018 legislative term. The additional eight officers for the caucus will be elected in the next two weeks.
The Michigan Legislative Black Caucus grew from 19 to 23 members this legislative term and includes members from both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The caucus was formed in 1976, with the commitment to ensure all citizens have equal opportunities.
