This week, a bipartisan package was introduced to help victims of domestic violence end a joint cell phone plan with their abuser. AT&T (an MLC client) brought the issue to the attention of a local state representative, who then sponsored one of the bills in the package. Under the legislation as introduced, when an individual applies for a Personal Protection Order they may also ask a Judge to issue an order allowing the victim of domestic violence to legally exit the wireless service contract shared with their abuser. The legislation has been referred to the House Communications and Technology Committee for further consideration.
