Last Week on the MLC Blog

Dec 10, 2018

Once voters approve a ballot proposal it takes some time for it to become effective, change isn’t immediate. In her latest post, MLC lobbyist Cami Pendell shared what happens between a favorable vote on election day and when a proposal becomes law.

The Senate moved forward with legislation amending two of the citizens’ initiatives passed by Michigan voters in last month’s general election.

The Senate passed a five-bill package creating an independent commission charged with campaign oversight.

The House passed legislation allowing the legislature to intervene in state court cases when they feel it’s necessary to protect a right or interest of the state.

Changes to Michigan’s minimum wage and paid sick time laws are headed to Governor Rick Snyder after receiving approval by the House and Senate.

In our weekly “Five Things We’re Reading” feature we shared articles on escaping busy work, how you can find motivation when you’re in a rut, plus more.

Looking ahead to the week of December 8 –14, 2 018.
