On Monday, Governor Rick Snyder announced the appointment of John D. Maurer to the 56th Circuit Court of Eaton County, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Jeffrey Sauter. Judge Maurer serves as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Clinton County after working as a partner in the Grand Ledge law firm of Deming & Maurer for two decades. He also served as the Mulliken Village Attorney from 2000-2008. Judge Maurer earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from Cooley Law School. He must seek election in November 2018 to be retained for the balance of Judge Sauter’s current term and again in November 2020 for a new six-year term.
