This week, the Michigan House Republican Caucus released a Progress Report of their 2017-18 Action Plan. The report walks through the main areas they targeted in their action plan and provides updates on the status of bills falling within each section.
The main sections in the report, and a sample of their updates, include:
Governing Courageously – State budget reduction of 0.2%, creation of “The Fourth Amendment Protection Act,” and an additional $153 million in school aid foundation allowances.
Partnering with Local Communities – Increased revenue sharing, funding for infrastructure improvements, and funding for the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission.
Thriving Through Freedom – Creation of the Good Jobs for Michigan Program, $100 income tax credit for residents 62 or older, and $23.2 million for PFAS mitigation statewide
Valuing Our Culture of Life – Providing mental health care to prisoners, an extension of safe harbor for human trafficking victims, and increased appropriations for senior in-home services.
Training the Next Generation – $41 million for the Going Pro skilled trades program, the creation of a school accountability system, and allowing high school credit for internships or work experiences.
